F.A.Q.

In order to book your wedding date, both a signed quote from Lisa and a 50% non-refundable retainer are required.  The contract terms are listed on the “Terms & Conditions” webpage.  It is the client’s responsibility to read and understand these terms upon booking.  Once both a signed quote and payment of the retainer has been made, you will receive an email confirming your wedding date has been reserved, and the date is officially yours.

Payment can be made using either the banking app, Zelle ([email protected]), or Venmo (@hairandmakeupbylisa).  Checks are also acceptable, and can be made directly to Lisa Pietrzak, and mailed to the following address:
Lisa PIetrzak
12030 Donner Pass Rd
1-632
Truckee, CA 96161

An email confirmation will always be sent upon receiving your payment.

Absolutely!
I generally recommend scheduling this appointment within 6-8 weeks of your wedding date, but that isn’t required.  This appointment is approximately 2.5 hours, at a location of your choice.  Please feel free to email me a few dates, times, and a location that works for you, and we can schedule something from there.

You’ll want to have some hair and makeup ideas in mind, inspiration pictures are always welcome.
*Helpful Tip: Rather than just looking on Pinterest for ideas, try looking up Red Carpet styles of celebrities with similar coloring to your own.  These photos can be found with several angles (What does the front of a hairstyle look like?) in all sorts of flash and outdoor/daylight photography, just like your wedding day.  These photos are unedited and you’ll have a realistic idea of how makeup looks without filters.
If you already have your accessories (veil, clips, flowers, etc.) you’ll want to have those at the appointment, and dressing up a bit, in white, is helpful too.  It gets tricky trying to visualize your bridal look while wearing yoga pants!  This is the time to test out how certain products wear on your skin over time, or whether you even like certain looks at all.  It’s a time for us to get to know each other and for me to learn your likes, dislikes and comfort level.  I consider this appointment a “rough draft”, and I always re-evaluate minor changes to make to perfect our look for the wedding day.

No!  While booking a Preview Session is great for peace of mind, and a fun way to meet before your wedding day, many brides getting married in a Lake Tahoe destination don’t visit Tahoe prior to their wedding day.  Specializing in bridal for nearly 15 years, this is partly why I allow additional timing for bridal styling, and I do my best to ask the appropriate consultation questions to achieve your desired look.

Good makeup requires good skin.  All makeup services include skin prep based on your skin’s individual needs to prepare the skin for all makeup.  Skin tones will be matched and depending on the look desired, condition of the skin, etc. skin may be airbrushed or traditionally done.  Lashes are included and there are several options (strip, clusters, or individuals), which will be chosen based on specific eye shape and look desired.

My makeup kit is a source of pride and joy for me, and is ever evolving.  I strive to use brands/products with the best quality ingredients and wear.  I incorporate professional and luxury brands such as Kett Cosmetics, Viseart, Face Atelier, Charlotte Tilbury, Nars, MAC Cosmetics and many more.  A large majority of products are considered to be vegan, made with skincare in mind, and on the “cleaner” side of the spectrum, and can be worn by even the most sensitive of skin.

Hair will be pinned into an upstyle, half-up style, or left down depending on the desired look and consultation.  If a client has their own clip-in extensions, bring them along, and I will add these into the hairstyle to achieve added length or volume.

Like my makeup kit, my hair kit is also ever-changing, but always professional grade products.  I aim to use as many “clean” brands/ingredients as possible, without sacrificing performance.  Some hair kit brand staples include Aiir Professional, Kevin Murphy, Davines, Kenra, Verb, Surface, among others.

Hair
Preparation is key to stay on time!  Hair should be clean, and completely dry, ready to work with.  Skip using a flat iron if you’re looking to achieve a curled/waved style.  Second-day, blown out hair is fine.  Hair that will be blown out should be cleaned and damp, not soaked.
Makeup
Preparation is key to stay on time!  Your face should be clean, with no leftover traces of makeup.  You are welcome to use any serums/moisturizers/sun blocks, and I will always have the appropriate skin care as well.  Contacts should be put in prior to makeup services.
Setup
An open, cleared, flat space (table, counter, etc.) near an outlet is necessary, and being near a window is a bonus!  I do come with a chair and light, so no need to worry about perfect lighting in a darker room.  If your day requires additional artists, please remember to leave a dedicated space for styling.
I do not have an assistant.  Rather, I work with my chosen colleagues whose skill set/experience level match my own.  This is how I can ensure clients that any hair or makeup service, whether with me or an additional artist I bring along, will be in good, capable hands.
I will determine the appropriate number of stylists based on the number of services required and timing.  There is a fee of $150 per additional artist required.
